Texas licence renewals, by the month
Texas keeps 739,394 occupational licences active across 82 licence types. Over the next twelve months 526,540 of them come up for renewal, an average of 43,878 every month. This page shows when, where and in which trades, and the data is free to reuse.

The heaviest month in the next year is July 2027, with 53,612 licences expiring. For the trades that renew annually, such as electricians and air conditioning contractors, almost the entire licensed population passes through renewal every year; trades that renew every two years, such as cosmetology, move in slower waves.

Licences that already lapsed
206,186 licences in the file expired within the last two years and have not been renewed. Some of those people left the trade; others simply missed the date. Most Texas licences can still be renewed late with an increased fee for a period, after which a new application is the only route.
How this was built
TDLR publishes a file of every licence it issues, refreshed daily. We loaded the file dated 20 September 2026, counted the records by licence type, county and month of expiration, and published the counts. A licence is counted as active when its expiration date has not yet passed.
946,223 records were counted. The source file also carries about 51,000 secondary rows with no licence type, which are excluded because they duplicate typed rows or cannot be classified. No individual records are published here: this page contains counts only.
Counts can differ slightly from figures published by TDLR, which may apply different rules about what counts as active. For any individual licence, the TDLR website is the official record.
